Besiktas and Fenerbahce fans clashed after the Turkish Cup game between the two teams on Friday. The local police got involved before matters got worse. No injuries have been reported so far.
While the Turkish Cup semifinal game between Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul wasn't close, the fans of the two clubs made headlines following the final whistle.
Fenerbahce controlled the game throughout, leading by a staggering 33 points after the first two quarters. The deficit was too large to overcome, and the EuroCup squad fell against the EuroLeague team by 31 points, 99-68.
After the match, the fanbases of the two clubs clashed outside of the arena, the Karatay Congress and Sport Center.
In videos published by multiple accounts on X, formerly Twitter, it can be seen that flares were flying in the nearby parking lot, while a significant number of people can be seen running away.
The police are said to have intervened and stopped it before it got worse. No injuries have been reported so far.
It should be noted that the two fanbases clashed inside the venue during the game as well.
