Joe Thomasson is joining the squad, his now-former team announced. Maccabi will pay a buyout to acquire the player.
Thomasson started the season with Coviron Granada in the Spanish Liga Endesa and averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists for 13.6 PIR in 20 games this year.
Maccabi have until 6 PM CET to register the player for the EuroLeague. The newly acquired guard is not expected to play against Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Riga, Latvia, on Thursday, Arale Weisberg from Walla Sport notes.
The 30-year-old guard was previously named into the All-BCL Second Team in 2022 when he represented BAXI Manresa, playing alongside the current Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz forward Chima Moneke.
Thomasson adds guard depth to the roster, as Lorenzo Brown has previously told BasketNews he's playing at only 70% of his total strength due to a back injury.
