In the aftermath of the Greek All-Star proceedings, Ergin Ataman of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens revealed a wish of his about Spanoulis.
Head coaches Ergin Ataman of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and Vassilis Spanoulis of Peristeri bwin came together at the same coaching staff at the Greek All-Star games.

Ataman was the head coach of Team Sloukas, while Spanoulis was his assistant coach.
Owing to the occasion, Ataman talked about a wish he had about Spanoulis while the latter was still playing.
"I always wanted to have him as a player in my team. It was my dream; at least I have him now with me as an assistant," Ataman joked and praised Spanoulis.
Although cooperation between the two never materialized, the two men are rivals in the Greek Basket League currently.
