Bruno Caboclo's delayed arrival and lack of communication with Umana Reyer Venice, following his impressive performance at the FIBA World Cup, leave his Italian basketball career in uncertainty.
Bruno Caboclo, who had signed a deal with Umana Reyer Venice over the summer, has yet to make his way to the Italian team.
The plan was for him to catch a flight on Thursday and land in Italy by Friday, but he didn't board the plane. Moreover, he hasn't communicated with his team for quite some time.
Interestingly, Caboclo recently changed his representation, although there hasn't been an official announcement regarding this shift. Venezia negotiated the deal with his previous agent.
Federico Casarin, the president of Venezia, shed some light on the situation in a conversation with the newspaper Il Gazzettino.
"After the FIBA World Cup, Brazil took some time before returning to their country. Following that, Caboclo traveled to the U.S. to handle some paperwork and obtain his visa. His plan was to catch a Thursday flight so that he could arrive in Italy by Friday. However, we've been informed that he didn't take the flight," the executive said.
Caboclo lately starred with the Brazilian national team jersey at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. He averaged 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
His World Cup campaign finished on September 3, when Brazil lost a do-or-die game vs. Latvia for a ticket to the quarterfinals.
