After struggling in the first half, Australia took their game up a notch in the second and easily defeated Finland 98-72 (17-21, 28-19, 25-14, 28-18).

Patty Mills didn't have a great season in the NBA but came back to the 2023 FIBA World Cup with a vengeance. The veteran point guard finished the game with 25 points on 11-for-22 shooting, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals for game-leading 26 PIR.

Josh Giddey was close to a first-ever triple-double in World Cup history, but ended up short. His final statline - 14 points on 4-for-10 shooting, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, but 4 turnovers for 21 PIR.

On the other side of the court, Lauri Markkanen had an inefficient 19 points (7/17 FG, 1/7 3PT), 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Australia gets their first victory in the World Cup and temporarily moves to first place in Group E.
