Matt Thomas joins ALBA Berlin on a one-year deal.
Former NBA sharpshooter Matt Thomas has signed a one-year contract with ALBA Berlin, the German team officially announced.
"I am very happy to be part of the ALBA family from now on," Thomas said. "So far, I've only heard good things about the club and the city of Berlin. ALBA embodies great professionalism and high standards. I really can't wait to play for Coach Gonzalez. I know that my game fits very well into his system. In my three NBA years and last season with Panathinaikos, I was often limited to the shooting specialist role.
"This season, I want to play a bigger role, showing all aspects of my game and contributing to the team's success," he continued. "As I have German roots, I am extra motivated to get into the culture, history, and everything that Berlin has to offer."
The 29-year-old joined Panathinaikos in the middle of the 2022-23 season. Both sides initially agreed on a two-year deal which was terminated in July.
After joining PAO in January, Thomas played in 10 EuroLeague games and averaged 8.1 points and 2.0 rebounds for 6.7 PIR. Thomas didn't get to play in the Greek League due to the foreigner limit.
He possesses a three-year NBA experience with the Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Chicago Bulls. Overall, Thomas made 126 appearances in the NBA, averaging 4.0 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.
Before his move across the Atlantic, Thomas played for Obradoiro and Valencia Basket, with which he won the EuroCup in 2019.
