Darius Thompson officially joined Anadolu Efes Istanbul, the Turkish club announced.

According to the announcement, Thompson signed a 3-year contract that will run until the end of the 2025-26 season. BasketNews reported about an agreement on July 5.

Thompson will replace Vasilije Micic in Efes, who will make his debut in the NBA after agreeing on a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Thompson had a valid contract with Baskonia for another year, which included a buyout clause of nearly 550,000 euros.

However, with the budget freed up following Micic's departure, Efes were able to pay the buyout fee and offer Thompson a lucrative contract.

Thompson, a 28-year-old American standing 193 cm tall, is expected to acquire an Italian passport soon.

In his debut EuroLeague season with Baskonia, Thompson averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 17.1 PIR per game over 34 appearances.
