Following a reduction in his punishment for antidoping violations, Greek forward Dinos Mitoglou is getting closer to making his EuroLeague comeback.

According to BasketNews sources, Mitoglou is in advanced negotiations with Panathinaikos Athens and is on the verge of finalizing the contract.

The 27-year-old, 2.10 m player will be eligible to participate in official games starting from July 28, which means he will be ready for the start of the 2023-24 EuroLeague season and FIBA World Cup 2023.

Mitoglou last stepped on a basketball court on February 11, 2022, and nearly twenty days later, on March 4, 2022, it was revealed that he had been punished for using methandienone, one of the most prohibited substances on the WADA list.

"CAS today reversed the first instance decision of the FIBA disciplinary committee regarding my sentence reducing it to 16 months, meaning I can compete from July 28," the player shared on his Instagram.

Prior to his suspension, Mitoglou averaged 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 17 minutes per game for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in the EuroLeague.

He previously spent four seasons with Panathinaikos from 2017 to 2021.

During the 2020-21 season, he had career-highs of 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in 20 minutes per game.
