With Washington Wizards star Kristaps Porzingis heading to the Boston Celtics, the franchise is sending away one of its star guards. Marcus Smart is going to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the deal, Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN reports.

The Grizzlies are sending this year's 25th pick and next year's first-round pick to the Celtics. As part of the three-way deal, Boston is sending this year's 35th pick, Danilo Gallinari, and Mike Muscala to the Wizards.

Smart became the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, becoming the first guard to do it since Gary Payton in the 1990s. This year, he averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game for the Celtics.

Smart signed a new four-year deal with Boston last year. He will be earning $18,583,713 next season.
