The President of Serbia - Aleksandar Vucic - said that Crvena Zvezda owe €1.5 million in taxes while Partizan's debt is much bigger - €7.2 million.
The two basketball powerhouses from Serbia - Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade - have been at the forefront of the EuroLeague this season. However, both teams have serious amounts of debt on their shoulders.
Talking on the 'Tema' show on TV Prva, The President of Serbia - Aleksandar Vucic - revealed the current financial status of both basketball teams.
"The state will not forgive Zvezda or Partizan, they may not like it but they have to pay taxes," the highest government official said.
Later on, Vucic added that Crvena Zvezda owe €1.5 million in taxes while Partizan's debt is much bigger - €7.2 million.
Partizan have recently launched a debt repayment program, in which all club's fans can donate money in return for unique rewards. Earlier today, the club's president Ostoja Mijailovic announced that Partizan have already collected €500,000 during the first day of the program.
Commenting on the news, Vucic said he expects the money to reach the government accounts immediately.
"They say that they collected 500,000 and I expect him to pay 500,000 tomorrow and pay successively until he pays all 7 million," he said about Mijailovic.
