Anadolu Efes Istanbul head coach Ergin Ataman denied the rumors about his meeting with Panathinaikos Athens representatives.

This week, Encestando published a story claiming that Ataman met with Panathinaikos members in Athens. However, both Panathinaikos and Ataman denied such claims.

"I did not have any face-to-face meetings with Panathinaikos," Ataman told Anadolu News Agency. "At the moment, I'm only thinking about the derby we will play with Fenerbahce on April 6, the other matches in the EuroLeague, and winning the Turkish League once again with Anadolu Efes."

"A very important game will be played for both teams on Thursday evening. We want to win the derby and carry our playoff chances to the last week," added Ataman.

Ataman will become a free agent after this season. After winning back-to-back EuroLeague titles with Efes, Ataman and the rest of the team face not making the playoffs this season.

With a 16-16 record and two games left, Anadolu Efes stand in 10th place in the EuroLeague standings.
