Ja Morant's brilliance was not enough to push the Memphis Grizzlies over the New Orleans Pelicans last night. In addition, one of the team's leaders will be sidelined for several weeks.

The club announced that Desmond Bane will be out for 2-3 weeks following a Grade 2 sprain of his right big toe.

After improving year to year, the third-year guard has been averaging 24.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season.

John Konchar started the game against the Pelicans instead of Bane. In 37 minutes of play, he scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

However, things are not entirely bleak for the Grizzlies as Jaren Jackson Jr. made his season debut last night after previously being sidelined due to a fractured foot.

The Grizzlies are now 9-and-6 and sit in 6th place in the Western Conference standings.
