The head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, will take over the reins of the USA NT, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

72-year-old Gregg Popovich finished his five-year run as the head coach of Team USA this summer.

The new managing director of USA Basketball, Grant Hill, has looked for a new head coach for Team USA. It was previously reported that Hill would look for a current head coach with USA Basketball experience to take over Team USA.

Kerr was an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics, where the Americans won their fourth straight gold medals.

The 56-year-old won five NBA championships as a player: four with the Chicago Bulls and one with the San Antonio Spurs. He collected three more rings as the Warriors head coach.
