Having lost to Paris Basketball in their last game at the French LNB Pro A League, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (6-2) redeemed themselves, handling JL Bourg (4-4) 85-77 (25-14, 19-28, 25-18, 16-17).
ASVEL started the game strong, going on a 10-0 run in the first period and gaining a double-digit advantage (22-12). Bourg answered with a run of their own at the end of the first half to tie the game and were only down by two going into the break (42-44).
ASVEL held a solid advantage in the third period, but the visitors were able to cut it to two after an 8-1 start of the fourth (68-70). But the hosts proved they were the better team, playing well during crunch time, led by Chris Jones and Elie Okobo, winning by eight.
Jones finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 3 turnovers, and 17 PIR. Okobo added 16 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 turnover, and 23 PIR.
