In a nail-biting Liga ACB battle, Real Madrid (9-1) defeated Fuenlabrada (2-8) 88-85 (34-20, 13-29, 17-20, 24-16) to get their third local competition victory in a row.
Real created an early 15-point lead (25-10) in the first quarter but Fuenlabrada did not give up. They came back to the game behind an 11-2 run and retook game control before halftime, being in front by 2 points (49-47).
After Fuenlabrada outscored the Royal club by 3 points in the third period (69-64), Real went on a mission in the decisive 10 minutes. The Whites led the way (84-78) with 2 minutes to go but the opponents managed to get back on track.
Obi Emegano scored 7 points in a row to tie the game at 85 with 18 seconds to play. Nevertheless, Thomas Heurtel spoke the last word, hitting a heart-breaking trey.
For the winners, Fabien Causeur registered 19 points (3/5 2PT, 3/8 3PT, 4/5 FT) and 6 rebounds.
Obi Emegano and Dusan Ristic led the route for Fuenlabrada. Emegano posted 27 points (7/10 2PT, 2/6 3PT, 7/7 FT), 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Ristic had 25 points (5/8 2PT, 5/6 3PT) and 5 rebounds, 3 assists as well.
