Age: 23
Height: 208 cm
Weight: 106 kg
Birth place: United States of America

The team did not announce terms, but reports pegged it at three years and $40.2 million. Gafford, 23, will earn $1.78 million this season and $1.9 million the next year before his extension begins. He will be under contract through the 2025-26 season.

"We're very excited to extend Daniel's contract and continue to see him develop within our system after his athleticism on both ends of the floor made such an immediate impact for us last season," said Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard. "We are confident that he has the character and drive to keep working hard to improve his overall game and become an even bigger part of what we are building with our team."

The Wizards acquired the 2019 second-round pick out of Arkansas from Chicago on March 25. Washington won 17 of the 23 games he played after the deal.

He averaged 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game in 31 games (11 starts) with the Bulls prior to the trade, and 10.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks with one start in those 23 games for the Wizards afterward.

Washington will open the season Wednesday night in Toronto against the Raptors.
