Bad news continue to follow the Australian big man Aron Baynes. Less than a week after suffering a neck injury that cut his Olympic quest short, Baynes was waived by his NBA team.

Toronto Raptors waived Baynes, whose $7.35M contract was set to become guaranteed on Thursday.

The 9-year veteran appeared in 53 games (31 starts) for the Raptors last season. He averaged 6.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. In 2019-20 Baynes enjoyed his career year with the Phoenix Suns. In 22 minutes of playing time, the Boomer was averaging 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

Australian national team will face Team USA in the semi-final matchup of the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday.
