Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant will be the main protagonist of a one-on-one interview with legendary David Letterman. The full interview will be available as a part of the new series of Letterman's show 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction' on Netflix from May 20.
A small conversation segment between Durant and Letterman has already been released. Durant focused on his involvement as an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, which is already legal in 18 states around the USA.
Marijuana is still considered a prohibited substance in the NBA, although the league decided not to test the players for marijuana during the bubble in Orlando, and for this season, they suspended the random testing.
During the interview, Durant revealed that he started to smoke weed when he was 22 years old, and that helps him to clear his mind, especially during very stressful moments.
"For me, it's like having a glass of wine," Durant said.
The Brooklyn Nets star actually confessed to Letterman that he had smoked right before the interview and that he was high at that moment.
Durant is involved in the cannabis business with some partners and hopes to de-stigmatize the narrative surrounding marijuana and athletes.

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has long had one of Nike's most popular and profitable signature basketball shoes, but uncertainties surrounding his NBA future have left the company unlikely to extend him to a similar signature deal beyond the 2022-23 season, according to ESPN.
Irving has a new edition of his shoe set to debut in the fall, but that is expected to be the final year of a lucrative signature series that he has had with Nike since 2014, via the report.
"We don't comment on contracts or rumors or speculation. Kyrie remains a Nike athlete," Nike's spokesperson told when reached by ESPN.
The turbulence surrounding Irving has included several episodes in the past two years.
The 30-year-old was limited to road games for the majority of the season because of his view on the COVID-19 vaccination and the City of New York policy that kept him off the court for games in Brooklyn. He played only 29 regular-season games in 2021-22.
A seven-time All-Star guard, Irving averaged 27.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds before a four-game sweep by the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Moreover, in July, Irving lashed out on social media about the design of the Nike Kyrie 8 edition of his shoe, calling it "trash" and insisting that "I have nothing to do with the design or marketing" and that "Nike plans to release it without my okay."
Days later, Irving issued a statement tempering those words.

Amar'e Stoudemire is leaving his player development assistant post with the Brooklyn Nets and said the franchise needs to take a harder stance against star guard Kyrie Irving, via ESPN.
Irving was limited to road games for the majority of the season because of his view on the COVID-19 vaccination and the City of New York policy that kept him off the court for games in Brooklyn. He played 29 regular-season games in 2021-22.
A seven-time All-Star guard, Irving averaged 27.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds this campaign. He scored a career-high 60 points in a 150-108 win against the Magic in Orlando on March 15.
"It definitely hurt us because we didn't have consistency enough with Kyrie to build chemistry with the group, with the team. He's playing only away games depending on which city it is, can't play in New York, therefore we had different lineups and different matchups depending on the game schedule.
So, it made it difficult for us, coaches, to figure out who's going to play in spite of Kyrie. It was difficult to manage that so yeah, it was part of that," Stoudemire spoke on ESPN's morning talk shows.

Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets appear to be at a crossroads.
General manager Sean Marks fueled further speculation about the future of Irving in Brooklyn on Wednesday when asked about the 30-year-old returning to the team next season.
"We need people here that want to be here," Marks said, "(that) are selfless, that want to be part of something bigger than themselves. And there's an objective and there's a goal at stake here. And in order to do that, we're going to need availability from everybody."
Marks said a sitdown with Irving in the near future was part of his routine offseason plan. The "availability" concern could easily be applied to point guard Ben Simmons, who didn't suit up for the Nets after being acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 10.
Simmons came to the Nets in the James Harden deal after the relationship between Irving and Harden went south.
Irving was limited to road games for the majority of the season because of his stance on the COVID-19 vaccination and the City of New York policy that kept him off the court for games in Brooklyn. He played 29 games in 2021-22.
