At one point during his discussion with BasketNews during Olympiacos Piraeus' media day, Moustapha Fall realized that he had to get it off his chest.  "Honestly, I don't want to talk about the national team. I just want to talk about Olympiacos," he said after being asked several questions about his World Cup experience with France.
Luke Sikma didn't need too much basketball-related information about his new team, Olympiacos Piraeus, when he called Thomas Walkup.  "I got a lot of info. I was more curious about life outside the court," the US forward told BasketNews.
Always smiling, Mindaugas Kuzminskas was obviously in a good mood during AEK Athens' media day. The Greek club made several high-profile signings this past summer, including Jordan McRae, Brian McLemore, Mfiondu Kabengele, and 2018 EuroLeague champion Chasson Randle.
In October 2021, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan head coach Ettore Messina was asked about Kyle Hines' thoughts on a potential retirement.  The EuroLeague veteran was entering the final year of his contract with the Italian club, and the finishing line looked closer than ever.
Nothing can make Kyle Guy happier than being able to travel the world while playing basketball. That's why it shouldn't come as a surprise that he seemed to be enjoying as much as anyone the location that his club, Panathinaikos Athens, chose to present its brand-new jersey on Monday evening.
Sunday night in Piraeus was one to remember. Olympiacos hosted a special ceremony to honor Vassilis Spanoulis, the athlete who changed the club's course almost single-handedly.
Every successful team boasts a mix of young and experienced players who can guide it through thick and thin, including games against top-level opponents. For a squad that has suffered several setbacks both before and during the 2023 World Cup and doesn't possess significant roster depth, every player is important.
There has been much discussion about what exactly went south for France in the 2023 World Cup and last year's EuroBasket finalists didn't qualify for the Round of 16. The two losses to Canada and Latvia derailed Vincent Collet's team early in the tournament and from that point, there was no going back. France was relegated to places 17-32 and ended up 18th, their worst placement ever.
Rudy Gobert couldn't change much for France in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Les Bleus are set to leave Jakarta for destinations other than Manila, where the tournament's final stage will be played. Some of the players have already planned a quick trip to Bali to get a taste of Indonesia's most famous resort.
When FIBA announced that the Philippines would be among the hosts of the 2023 World Cup, a big part of fans and media alike were thrilled that a basketball-crazy nation would get the chance to experience the big event first-hand.
Davis Bertans apparently was in a good mood during Latvia's practice before the game against Team Canada. Trying his signature long-distance shots from every corner of the main court in the Indonesia Arena, he seemed to have placed a bet with himself.
As Brazil are trying to get over Raul Neto's severe injury that will probably keep him sidelined for next season, the team from South America is looking to secure a spot in the World Cup's Round of 16.
Luca Banchi was devastated to find out Kristaps Porzingis was unable to help the Latvian national team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The team's leader has followed the rest of the squad to Jakarta, Indonesia, where Latvia competes in the same group as Canada, France and Lebanon. Porzingis suffers from plantar fasciitis in his foot, an injury that prevents him from being fully ready.
Even though he's not Argentinian but Brazilian, Yago dos Santos has embraced all the tenacity to be found in Facundo Campazzo's game. And even though Campazzo and his national team didn't make it to the latest version of the FIBA World Cup, his spirit lives on through dos Santos.
Evan Fournier witnessed a tough World Cup premiere for France in the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta. The French guard led his team offensively, but his contribution didn't have the slightest effect, as Les Bleus received a heavy 65-95 pouncing at the hands of Team Canada.
Terry Tarpey made his France NT debut at the 2022 EuroBasket. The French-American forward was 28 at the time, coming off an impressive five-year stint with Le Mans.
Assuming Gregg Popovich was right to point out that Brandon Paul's travels helped him find a spot in the NBA, the veteran guard is aware that the equation works both ways. Hence, he used the lessons from his overseas experience to gradually take up hobbies or discover some activities he'd like to keep doing long after his playing career. It all starts with understanding time management.
If ratiopharm Ulm emerged as the ultimate Cinderella story in European basketball this summer, Brandon Paul can lay claim to having been part and parcel of a special group. It wasn't just that the German club won its first domestic championship title. That trophy was the first in Paul's career as well.
Regardless of the environment, the circumstances, the opponent, or the setting, Gianmarco Pozzecco is a man who knows that it's almost a capital sin to go unnoticed.  His gestures and the way he uses encouragement to light up his players' hearts and minds have been the stuff of legend. It's only normal that the Italian tactician has almost become an iconic figure in European basketball.
Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 15 points, along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists, as Serbia downed hosts Greece 71-64 to clinch their first win in the 32nd Acropolis Tournament which takes place at OAKA. On Wednesday, the Eagles will face Italy (18:45 CET).
