The Greek legend apparently held a long post-game talk with his players, delaying his arrival at the press conference by nearly 40 minutes.
"They were better than us," Spanoulis began. "We were one or two steps behind. We were not here today. It was a bad game for us, and we took what we deserved.
"We were mentally not here, and we were one or two steps behind everywhere. We were always reacting. We expected something easy, I don't know why. We were not mentally and physically here," he repeated.
"I'm very disappointed about our defense and our approach to the game. It's my responsibility to solve the problem."
With the loss, Monaco's record fell to 13-7.
