Joan Penarroya remains focused on his team's performance: "We are a big club with a lot of news and a lot of situations."
FC Barcelona celebrated a victory in Paris, but Friday was all about Thomas Heurtel. The French point guard arrived in Catalonia with his family to sign a deal, but his contract with the club fell through.
After the EuroLeague Round 19 game, head coach Joan Penarroya was asked about the situation during the post-game conference, but his responses didn't provide much clarity.
"For me, the only important thing is what's happening on the court," Penarroya stated. "Today is a difficult day for everybody, the club, but it's not a question for me.
"We are a big club with a lot of news and a lot of situations, but our focus for the moment is only on the games. ... Our focus is only to play basketball, to rest well, and to prepare for our next game."
On Friday, Heurtel and his agent held a press conference to discuss the failed signing with Barcelona. They mentioned that Penarroya "was very happy and wanted me to arrive as soon as possible" and that the coach even called Heurtel to apologize after the deal fell through.
Meanwhile, when asked if the team is looking for another point guard, Penarroya simply replied, "The attitude is perfect."
