Barcelona captain Alex Abrines criticized the team's recent struggles, emphasizing the need for immediate change
FC Barcelona is facing a difficult period as they try to recover from a series of setbacks. After a strong start to the EuroLeague season, the club’s fortunes have taken a sharp downturn. One of their key players, Nicolas Laprovittola, suffered an injury, and since then, Barcelona has struggled to maintain their early-season momentum.
Currently sitting 11th in the EuroLeague standings, the team has lost five of their last six games. Their performance in the ACB League isn’t much better, as they sit 8th with a 6-5 record.
In light of this, Barcelona's captain, Alex Abrines, has come forward to address the team's poor performances, especially after the loss against Zaragoza. After a disappointing game, Abrines issued a passionate message to his teammates and fans, calling for a complete turnaround.
“We have to have respect for this shirt, starting with me. We all have to respect this club more. It is a wake-up call. This cannot be. We are Barca and we are playing like a third-division team. Either we react now or in a month the season will be over. We are failing the fans one after another. I am going to try to put all the players in the bag; because if we have to play with five, we don’t need any more,” Abrines concluded.

Abrines made it clear that the entire team needs to take responsibility for the situation, and he emphasized that a collective effort is required to fix things. His message was clear: Barcelona must come together and improve quickly or risk having their season slip away.
As the season progresses, the Catalan giants will need to make a drastic change in their performance, both on and off the court. If they cannot bounce back, Abrines’ warning may turn into a harsh reality: the season could be over before it truly gets started.
