Former NBA forward Andre Roberson has joined ASVEL as a replacement for Edwin Jackson.
Following Edwin Jackson's injury, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne reached an agreement with forward Andre Roberson, 32, as BasketNews and Yann Ohnona of L'Equipe reported.

Weight: | 95 kg |
Birth place: | Texas, United States of America |
Renowned as an elite defender in the NBA and an important player for Oklahoma City (333 games played between 2013 and 2020), Roberson comes off a solid 2024-25 stint with Cholet (12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists) which ended last Sunday with a 19-point performance against his new team at the Astroballe.
The American winger (2.01m) had been free of any contract since Monday evening and the end of his stint with Cholet. Per L'Equipe, ASVEL jumped at the chance to offer him the same type of contract, this time to replace Jackson, who injured his hamstring in the EuroLeague against Bayern Munich last Friday and will be out until the end of December.
Cholet started the season strong, winning 5 of their first 6 games and sitting at the top of the standings.
In two FIBA Europe Cup appearances, Roberson averaged 9.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks, while shooting 36.8% from the field.
Roberson's return to professional basketball this season came after a year spent playing in the Dubai International Tournament with the Philippines club alongside Andray Blatche and Dwight Howard. He also participated in the TBT Tournament with the Colorado Alumni team following a G League stint in the 2022-23 season.
During that G League season, Roberson averaged 5.4 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14 appearances for the Oklahoma City Blue.
Roberson's NBA career was disrupted by a serious injury. After signing a 3-year, $30M deal with the Thunder in 2017, he ruptured his left patellar tendon in January 2018, sidelining him for the remainder of that season.
He made his NBA return on August 1, 2020, and played his first game in more than two years. In 2021, Roberson signed with the Brooklyn Nets, marking his last NBA appearance to date.
Before his injuries, Roberson was recognized as an elite defender, earning a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2017. His career averages stand at 4.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game across 307 NBA appearances.
ASVEL have won 2 of their 7 EuroLeague games this season. In the French league, they are tied for second place with 5 victories after the first 7 rounds.
