Shane Larkin, who was injured during Anadolu Efes' win over Olimpia Milan, will be sidelined for the next 3-4 weeks.
With 4:50 left in the third quarter of the EuroLeague Round 5 game between EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Shane Larkin injured his right ankle while defending Nikola Mirotic on a fast break.
As Mirotic attempted a layup, he accidentally landed on Larkin's foot, causing the ankle to twist painfully. Larkin was clearly in significant pain and unable to put any weight on his right foot. Medical staff quickly helped him off the court and escorted him straight to the locker room.
"I spoke with the medical staff briefly in the locker room -- it's an ankle twist of some sort," coach Tomislav Mijatovic said after the game. "We don't know without being evaluated through MRIs and other medical stuff. We are praying and hoping that it's not something that would sideline him for a long period of time."
The medical tests confirmed the original evaluation, as Larkin has indeed suffered a sprain in his right ankle and his treatment was promptly started, as the Turkish club informed.
According to the team's doctor, the captain of Anadolu Efes will miss the next 3-4 weeks due to soft tissue damage and bone edema.
