Usman Garuba has been added to Real Madrid's absences in the coming game against Baskonia. The Spanish international has experienced a knee discomfort and his status is pending evaluation.
Apart from Facundo Campazzo, who was ruled ineligible by the EuroLeague's Appeals Judge and will serve his one-game suspension, Real Madrid will have to play guest to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz without Usman Garuba as well.
The Spanish international felt a knee discomfort and will undergo medical tests, Pilar Casado from COPE reported.
Garuba played only 4:38 in Madrid's loss to FC Bayern Munich in the EuroLeague opener, but was left out of the squad in the following game against Partizan. Even though he came back to action despite the initial estimates and after sustaining a fracture on his left foot in August, the 22-year-old is set to miss another game.
Real Madrid have a 3-4 record in official games and are still to win on the road, after having lost to Coruna, Bilbao and Bayern. It is the worst start to a season since 2003, when Los Blancos, with Julio Lamas on the bench, started 2-3.
Coach Chus Mateo has been left without any real point guards. In addition to Campazzo's suspension, Andres Feliz is expected to be back around mid-November due to a tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot. Sergio Llull will have to take on even more minutes, while more load will inevitably fall upon Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Alberto Abalde.
Madrid will host Panathinaikos on Thursday, in the 2024 Euroleague final rerun. In Berlin, the Greeks won 95-80 and lifted their seventh continental trophy, the first in 13 years.
