Chima Moneke and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot needed more help as Baskonia fell short against Tenerife in Liga ACB opener. Bruno Fitipaldo led the way for the winning side with 16 points.

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz started their 2024-25 Liga ACB campaign losing to Lenovo Tenerife 88-80 [17-13, 23-28, 21-23, 27-16].

Tenerife started 4th period with a 17-1 run which was decisive reason why Pablo Laso lost his first official game as Baskonia's head coach.

Bruno Fitipaldo was Tenerife's top scorer with 16 points. Uruguayan also dished out 9 assists in the process, almost recording a double-double.

Aaron Dornekamp had 12, whilst Thomas Scrubb followed him with 11 points scored.

Two best scorers in this match were Baskonia's players, Chima Moneke and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, with 20 and 18 points respectively.

Tadas Sedekerskis dropped 12 along with 7 rebounds, Trent Forrest made his European debut with 9 points (3/9 FG).

Markus Howard only scored 6, not playing much due to foul trouble after collecting 5 personal fouls. Ognjen Jaramaz also made his Baskonia debut with 3 points and 3 assists.

Baskonia will play their first two EuroLeague matches against Belgrade teams, hosting Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade in Round 1 before visiting Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade in Round 2.
