Australia national team head coach Brian Goorjian is expected to be relieved from his coaching duties, according to Olgun Uluc from ESPN Australia.

"Of course, with this loss, Brian Goorjian's second stint as head coach of the Australian Boomers had come to an end," Uluc tweeted following the Boomers loss against Serbia.

The 71-year-old Goorjian returned as the Boomers head coach in 2020. Since then, Australia won bronze in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finished 10th in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and was eliminated in the quarterfinal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Previously, he was Australia coach from 2001-09, including the Olympics at Athens in 2004 and at Beijing in 2008.
