Figuring out the matchups for the Olympic basketball tournament's quarterfinals isn't the easiest task. However, despite the complexity, it's more straightforward than it seems at first glance.

The final two group-stage games will be played on Saturday, with Serbia facing South Sudan and the USA taking on Puerto Rico.

After these matches, the teams will be organized into four seeding pots as follows:

  • Pot D shall consist of the two-best-ranked teams

  • Pot E shall consist of the 3rd and 4th ranked teams

  • Pot F shall consist of the 5th and 6th-ranked teams

  • Pot G shall consist of the 7th and 8th-ranked teams

The teams from Pot D will be drawn against the teams from Pot G, and the teams from Pot E will be drawn against the teams from Pot F.

Teams from the same group in the Group Phase cannot be drawn against each other in the Quarter-Finals.

BasketNews provides an analysis of potential quarterfinal matchups based on this seeding arrangement.
