Tests showed a compound dislocation of the right index finger, but X-rays confirmed that Exum did not suffer a fracture. As such, Exum has been cleared to compete in the Paris Olympics.
Although Dante Exum's injury was initially described as worrying, the guard is reportedly set to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The 29-year-old dislocated his finger during the last friendly game against France. Initially, Australia didn't rule out even having to replace Exum in the Olympics.
However, the Herald Sun reports that Exum will compete in the event.
"[Exum] suffered a compound dislocation of the right index finger in the game," the Australian national team's director, Anna Meares, told The Herald Sun. "X-rays have confirmed that there was no fracture, and he is expected to continue on the path to compete at the Games."
"They've cleared him for play, and Dante's a pretty tough individual ... he's definitely a key piece of the puzzle for us," Jock Landale said.
Australia will play in Group A in the Paris Olympics alongside Greece, Canada, and Spain. Their first test will come on July 27th against Spain.
