Durant rhetorically asked whether he is a bad person, taking a jab at Nike for not being featured in their Olympics commercial despite being one of only three people to get a lifetime deal with the brand.
World athletic wear giant Nike released a new advertisement campaign before the start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, featuring some of the very top names in basketball. Kevin Durant was not one of them.
Nike released an ad campaign titled 'Winning isn't for Everyone,' which frequently featured the phrase 'Am I a bad person?' The ad focuses on the obsession the top athletes have regarding their craft, posing a rhetorical question about their dedication toward an Olympic medal.
The ad featured LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama, and the late Kobe Bryant. Durant is one of only three people who have earned a lifetime contract with Nike, along with James and Michael Jordan.
Durant took the omission personally, asking Nike a question on Instagram they pose themselves, 'Tell me, am I a bad person?', alluding to the slogan used in the commercial.
The ad features some of the top athletes in their respective fields, including Kylian Mbappe, Serena Williams, Sha'Carri Richardson, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and others.
