Ishmail Wainright returns to Europe after three seasons in the NBA.
Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv continue to strengthen their roster with well-known names for the upcoming season. The EuroCup team has officially announced the signing of forward Ish Wainright to a two-year deal.
Wainright, who stands 1.96 meters tall and is 29 years old, has spent the last three seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Phoenix Suns. He also had a brief stint with the Portland Trail Blazers last season.
During his NBA career, Wainright averaged 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds over 116 games. He also played briefly for the Rip City Remix, Portland's G-League affiliate.
In Tel Aviv, Wainright will reunite with his college teammate Johnathan Motley. The duo spent three seasons together at Baylor University.
Interestingly, Wainright also played a season of American football at Baylor in 2017-18 before starting his professional basketball career in Europe. He has played a season each in Germany for the Nuernberg Falcons and Rasta Vechta, and another in France for SIG Strasbourg.
Alongside Wainright and Motley, Hapoel have also signed the likes of Joe Ragland, Marcus Foster, and Ben Bentil.
