This marks Rytas' return to the top after a one-year break, during which Zalgiris finished third in the 2021-22 season. In the previous season, Zalgiris had won the finals with a 3-2 series win.

Zalgiris had a dominant run, winning 11 consecutive championships since the 2010-11 season. However, Rytas interrupted their dominance in the aforementioned season and have now reclaimed the title.

Rytas scoring ace Marcus Foster guided his team to championship glory by scoring a game-high 33 points, making 6 three-pointers in 7 attempts, and converting a game-winning driving layup with 7.7 seconds to go in Game 4.

Since the inception of the LKL, 28 teams have competed, but only two have been crowned champions: Zalgiris, with a record 24 titles, and Rytas, now with seven.
