According to Tomer Givati from Israeli Hayom, the club has submitted official paperwork to play in the EuroCup during the upcoming season.

The decision is now in the EuroLeague's hands, as the league will confirm the 20 participating teams during a shareholders meeting in June.

Hapoel have been playing in the Basketball Champions League (BCL) for six seasons, joining the competition in 2018. The club reached the tournament's final last year, losing to Telekom Baskets Bonn.

Last summer, investor Matan Adelson purchased the club. The organization has declared a strong interest in returning to the EuroLeague. "We'll do what's necessary and in our way to be in the EuroLeague," Adelson said in a press conference last June.

Hapoel Jerusalem won the ULEB Cup (now EuroCup) in 2004, defeating Real Madrid in the final. Starting in 2003, the team was in the EuroLeague family until 2018. The Israeli team also competed in the inaugural season of the modern EuroLeague in 2000-01.
