Roland Smits from Zalgiris Kaunas is expected to continue his career in Anadolu Efes Istanbul, BasketNews sources confirmed.
The news was first reported by Chema de Lucas, indicating that Smits is close to finalizing a three-year contract with the Turkish team.
According to BasketNews sources, both sides are finalizing a 2+1 agreement, and the 28-year-old 2.08 Latvian is set to join Anadolu Efes after the 2023-24 season.
While Smits was originally under contract with Zalgiris until 2026, his contract this summer included a buyout clause.
Throughout this EuroLeague season, Smits has maintained an average of 10.5 points (62.9% 2P, 37.5% 3P), 4.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and a PIR of 10.5 in 23 minutes per game.
Per InStat, he ranked third in the EuroLeague for pick-and-pops made, averaging 1.5 per game with a success rate of 52.2%.
