Arat stated beforehand that he wants, jointly with former Bahcesehir Koleji president and current Besiktas vice president Huseyin Yucel, to merge Bahcesehir Koleji and Besiktas teams.

The two teams, having strong budgets in the Turkish Basketball Super League, hope to become Besiktas Bahcesehir under Arat and Yucel's leadership.

"We have this critical project, the Besiktas Bahcesehir team," Arat explained. "We have started talking about it; hopefully, we will go with Huseyin Yucel to the EuroLeague in January to discuss the possibility of a wild card."

Besiktas basketball enjoyed a sort of rebirth this year. After almost being relegated to the second Turkish division last year, the club fully renewed its roster and brought Dusan Alimpijevic to the helm.

The project has so far been a success as Besiktas sits in fourth place in both EuroCup Group A and the Turkish Basketball Super League.
