Hasan Arat, who promised a merger between Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul and Bahcesehir Koleji, as well as a new arena and a jump to the EuroLeague, has become the president of the Besiktas sports club.
Hasan Arat will serve as the new president of the Besiktas sports club and will strive to develop the basketball branch, Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul, as he has previously laid out.
The new president will bring along Huseyin Yucel, who is the president of the Bahcesehir Koleji basketball team of the Turkish Basketball Super League. Their plan is to merge Bahcesehir and Besiktas, creating a new team called "Besiktas Bahcesehir."
Later on, there is a plan to construct a new arena with higher capacity in Akatlar, where Besiktas's current home court is located.
Eventually, Arat promised that the totality of these initiatives would lead to Besiktas's entry into the EuroLeague.
The new president's vision would coincide with the renewed importance of the basketball branch for Besiktas this year, as the team is having the best season it has had in a while under the leadership of coach Dusan Alimpijevic.
