Nenad Canak returns to Lietkabelis Panevezys and will replace Roberts Stelmahers as the club's head coach.
7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys decided to make changes to the coaching staff. According to BasketNews journalist Jonas Leksas' sources, the Lithuanian club will bring back the former head coach Nenad Canak.
Canak will replace the current head coach Roberts Stelmahers, and the official announcement is expected shortly.
Lietkabelis agreed to a 1+1 deal with Stelmahers this summer. However, the beginning of the season wasn't inspiring.
Currently, Lietkabelis hold a 4-2 record in the Lithuanian League (LKL) and a 1-3 record in the EuroCup.
Meanwhile, Canak returns to Panevezys only after a few months break. The Serbian tactician has been working in Lietkabelis since 2018, but this summer decided to accept Turk Telekom Ankara's offer.
However, the Turkish club officially fired Canak on Tuesday.
Last season in the EuroCup, Lietkabelis, with Canak in front, took 4th place in Group A but lost the quarterfinal game against Paris Basketball. However, in the King Mindaugas Cup, Lietkabelis won bronze medals.
In total, Canak has won 9 medals with Lietkabelis – 3 bronze medals in LKL and in King Mindaugas Cup, 1 silver in LKL, and 1 more silver medal in the Cup
