According to Ramona Shelburne from ESPN, the Philadelphia 76ers center committed to play for Team USA.
In addition to Team USA, Embiid had the option of playing for France or his home country of Cameroon.
Team USA executive director Grant Hill was informed about the decision Thursday morning, Wojnarowski notes. The two had previously met in Fort Collins, Colorado, where the Sixers are holding their pre-season training camp.
Embiid chose to represent the US due to his desire to put Team USA back on top internationally after two disappointing performances in the FIBA World Cup in a row, Wojnarowski adds.
