Diallo previously represented the US in Pan American Games in 2019, but the event wasn't organized by FIBA, hence allowing the player to represent Guinea internationally. Even though he was born in the US, his family is from Guinea.

The Guinean Basketball Federation has announced that Diallo will represent Guinea in the Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Nigeria. Diallo will form a duo with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica's Alpha Kaba on the roster.

Although Diallo was born in the US, his family is originally from Guinea, allowing him to acquire a Guinean passport.

Diallo has previously represented the United States in the 2019 Pan American Games. Since the event coincided with the 2019 FIBA World Cup, the US was represented by players from the Big East Conference in the NCAA. As a player for Providence, Diallo was selected to play in Lima, Peru.

Since the Pan American Games are organized by Organization Deportiva Panamericana (ODEPA) and not by FIBA, Diallo was free to represent Guinea internationally.

Guinea is placed in Group B with Cameroon and Tunisia. To keep the hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games alive, Guinea has to win the Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, and then win another Qualifying Tournament in 2024.
