Grant Hill confirmed he talked with Joel Embiid about him playing for Team USA in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Team USA managing director Grant Hill admitted that he talked with the Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid about him representing the USA in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Embiid is eligible to play for USA and France after obtaining both citizenships in 2022. However, he hasn't decided which country he wants to represent yet.
"I'll just answer it with a simple answer, and that's, 'Yes, I've talked to him,'" Hill said in an interview with SiriusXM Radio. "No, I mean, look, he has options, he's a great player. But he's also somebody who we've talked to about next summer, and we'll see. We'll see how that plays out."
Embiid will not play in this summer's FIBA Basketball World Cup. The 29-year-old said in January that playing in international competition would depend in part on how his body feels following a grueling NBA season, and he did not definitively say which country he wanted to represent.
Last season, Embiid received the NBA MVP award after averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 66 appearances for the 76ers.
