Cunningham had surgery on his left shin in December and missed the majority of the 2022-23 NBA season. He will practice and scrimmage for the US Select team that will help Team USA prepare for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Cade Cunningham missed the vast majority of the 2022-23 NBA season. After a successful surgery, he's set to be back on the court.
Seven months have passed since Cunningham underwent surgery on his left shin. The player is now doing great. According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, he was even offered a spot in Team USA that will compete in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.
However, the 21-year-old refused the offer and chose to focus on preparing for his comeback to the league, Wojnarowski notes.
Cunningham will be part of the US Select team that will help the main Team USA squad prepare for the international tournament during practices and scrimmages, Shams Charania from The Athletic notes.
Alongside the Detroit Pistons star, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Jalen Green, and Keegan Murray will be joining the US Select roster. In case of an injury, a member of the US Select roster will replace a player from Team USA.
