Promitheas Patras are looking for Makis Giatras' successor since the Greek coach is expected to leave the EuroCup side by the end of the week.
Makis Giatras has decided to leave the bench of Promitheas Patras due to personal reasons, related to health problems.
The experienced coach, who gave up on his post in the summer of 2021 after a turbulent season and a four-year stint, is expected to coach the Patras team against EuroCup group leaders Turk Telekom on Tuesday (Nov. 29) evening (18:30).
Promitheas want to stay on top of Group B. The two teams are tied with Gran Canaria at 4-1.
Giatras will probably sit on his team's bench for the last time vs. AEK Athens next Saturday.
According to Onsports.gr, Promitheas' management is already looking for his replacement. A first contact has already been made with Giannis Sfairopoulos, who gave a negative response.
Patras turned to Tofas Bursa's Dimitris Priftis and free-agent tactician Fotis Katsikaris. However, it looks like the former Larissa coach Fotis Takianos, who led the team to the Greek league semi-finals last season, is slated to become Giatras' successor.
Promitheas currently rank 10th in the Greek Basket league with a 2-3 record, having played two games less than most teams.
