Before coming to Catalonia, the 32-year-old spent eight years at Fenerbahce Istanbul, winning EuroLeague in 2017 and racking up the EuroLeague MVP award in 2019 under the guidance of legendary Zeljko Obradovic.
"Well, it was a very difficult decision to transfer from Fenerbahce to Barcelona, but I understood that I needed a change. I think it worked out great," Vesely said about his off-season move, via Mundo Deportivo.
"Since I've been playing for Fenerbahce for years in the EuroLeague, my experience is going to help Barcelona," Vesely responded when asked about his contribution to the new team.
"My game has been changing. I think now I'm a smarter player on the court. I am capable of helping on the defensive end a lot, and I am playing aggressively," he added.
Sarunas Jasikevicius is now coaching Jan Vesely. As stated by the Czech Republic big man, the Lithuanian mastermind was the one, who attracted him to Barca.
"Sarunas Jasikevicius was one of the reasons why I came to Barcelona," Vesely pointed out. "His philosophy and understanding of basketball are similar to Zeljko Obradovic's.
"They are both perfectionist coaches who are well aware that small details matter in basketball," Vesely started comparing. "Yes, sometimes they are different in their style whether to give more freedom to the players or not, but in the end, they have their rules, and you have to follow them on the court."
