Spain defeated Lithuania after an overtime thriller to advance to the EuroBasket 2022 quarter-finals.

Spain advanced to the quarter-finals of the EuroBasket 2022 after defeating the Lithuanian national team in a closely fought battle with a final score of 102-94 (19-20, 21-25, 23-23, 20-15, 19-11).

Lithuania was leading by single digits most of the game to eventually lose this nerve-wracking, intense battle between the two basketball powerhouses in Europe.

With 19 seconds to go in the overtime, Willy Hernangomez converted on a 3-point play to give Spain a 6-point lead (100-94) and seal the deal in the game.

Ignas Brazdeikis made a tip-in basket in the last second of the fourth quarter to tie the game (83-83).

Brazdeikis hit a crucial 3-pointer to get Lithuania back within 1 point deficit (95-94) with 1:12 remaining in overtime.

In overtime, Spain was carried by Lorenzo Brown, who gave Spain a 7-point lead (95-88) with 3-pointer with 1:57 remaining.

With 15 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter Willy Hernangomez converted on 1 of 2 free throws to increase Spain's lead to 2 points (83-81).

Usman Garuba made a tip-in basket with 16 seconds to go in the final quarter to give Spain a 1-point lead (82-81) and the Domantas Sabonis committed an offensive foul to give Spain the possession.

Ignas Brazdeikis got back the lead (80-81) for the Lithuanian team with 37 seconds to go in the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer.

Xabi Lopez-Arostegui gave Spain their first lead (80-78) with a fadeaway 2-point jump shot in the fourth quarter with 1:42 to go.

With 3:42 left in the fourth quarter, Lorenzo Brown reduced the deficit to just 1 point (75-74) with a floater.

With 37 seconds to go in the third quarter, Rudy Fernandez hit a 3-pointer to reduce Spain's deficit to just 3 points (66-63).

Lithuania gained their only double-digit lead (58-47) with 5:38 left in the third quarter after Mindaugas Kuzminskas' 3-pointer.

Spain was led by Lorenzo Brown who finished the game with 28 points (7/13 2PT, 2/7 3PT, 8/8 FT), 8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals for 28 EFF.

For Lithuania, Domantas Sabonis had 15 points (6/7 2 PT, 0/1 3PT, 3/4 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal for 20 EFF.
