After fulfilling his dream of being selected in the NBA Draft, Italian guard Matteo Spagnolo might continue his career in Italy.
The Italian prospect, who's under contract with Real Madrid until 2024, is drawing serious interest from Pallacanestro Reggiana. The Italian team reached the final of the FIBA Europe Cup in the past season and the first round of the Italian league playoffs.
Spagnolo already played in the Italian league this season with Vanoli Cremona, averaging 12.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Tim Connelly, the executive president of the Minnesota Timberwolves, stated that the plan of the team is to keep Spagnolo in Europe for at least another season but in the meanwhile, the Italian guard will play the Summer League.
Real Madrid is open to the possibility of sending Spagnolo back on loan to Italy, sources have told BasketNews, although there's also interest in him coming from the Spanish league. Teams like Manresa and Obradoiro have enquired about Spagnolo, sources have told BasketNews.
