Pinar Karsiyaka and head coach Ufuk Sarica will continue working together for the next three years, the Turkish Basketball Super League club announced. Club President Turgay Buyukkarci said in a statement, "I have good news for our community. Ufuk Sarica will stay with us for three more years."
Gran Canaria had made an offer to sign the experienced coach, but Sarica, who was preparing to re-sign with Karşıyaka during the season, replied that he was making new season plans with his club, and that it was difficult for him to accept the offer.
The Turkish play-caller, who previously won the Turkish Cup, the President's Cup and the championships with Karsiyaka between 2012-2016, bringing the team to the EuroLeague for the first time (2015-16), returned to the green-red team three years ago, leading it to the FIBA Champions League final in 2021.
Karsiyaka, who previously contacted former Turk Telekom player Samet Geyik, made an offer to Ahmet Duverioglu, who has been playing for Fenerbahçe Beko since 2016. When the Turkish center hailing from Jordan asked for a very high figure, the club turned to Darussafaka's Gorkem Dogan.
