Panathinaikos OPAP Athens kicked off the Greek Basketball League playoffs on a high note. Georgios Vovoras' squad crushed Aris Thessaloniki, 109-79 (34-13, 18-11, 28-25, 29-30), and took a 1-0 series lead.
Ioannis Papapetrou was the top performer for the winners, accumulating 19 points (6/7 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 4/4 FT), 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
James Kelly was the leading scorer for Aris, finishing with 19 points (4/6 2PT, 3/5 3PT, 2/2 FT), and 4 rebounds.
Panathinaikos started the game with a dominant performance and built a massive 27-points lead (34-13) after the first quarter.
At the start of the second quarter, the EuroLeague side continued their domination. They initiated another 12-0 scoring run and the lead growth to 30 points (50-20).
That was not a finish, as PAO kept pushing the accelerator pedal. The scoreboard was showing 80-46 during the third quarter.
The last 10 minutes of the duel were a mere formality and The Greens celebrated the comfortable victory.
