A sigh of relief in Anadolu Efes Istanbul camp. Shane Larkin avoided a serious injury and won't be sidelined for long.
According to BasketNews sources, Larkin will travel with the team to St. Petersburg, where Efes will face Zenit. However, it's likely that Larkin won't be available for this game.
Efes are evaluating Larkin's situation day by day. According to sources, Larkin might play against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on January 30 in the Turkish League game.
However, the most likely return date is February 2, when Efes will face CSKA Moscow.
Larkin hurt himself at the end of the game against Panathinaikos OPAP Athens. At the time, Efes head coach Ergin Ataman described the situation as serious.
"Larkin had a serious injury," explained Ataman. "After the Barcelona game, he could not play in the domestic league for two games."
"In the last 3 minutes of the game, there was a possibility of an even more serious injury," Ataman continued. "He wanted to be out. He is going for MRI tonight, and I hope there is no problem with the lateral ligaments. His situation looks serious. Otherwise, neither I would take him out in the last part of the game, nor he would be taken out."
This season, Larkin averages 14.2 points, 5.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 18.9 PIR.
