Spanish side Valencia Basket (3-2) conquered their third win of the season against French club JL Bourg (1-4).
After controlling the game in the first half, Valencia suffered to secure the win in the second half, with Bourg fighting back. In the end, coach Penarroya's team won 98-95 (24-17, 26-26, 20-28, 28-24)
In the final seconds, Calvin Harris Jr had the chance to tie the game with a three-pointer, but he missed the shot, and Valencia sealed the win (98-95).
A three-pointer from Lopez-Arostegui gave Valencia an eight-point lead (87-79), but Bourg remained alive, thanks mainly to Sulaimon and Harris Jr. The French club cut Valencia's lead to just two points (96-94) with one minute left on the clock.
The game remained close in the final quarter, but Valencia was able to open an edge with a 6-0 run that gave the Spanish side a 6-point lead (81-75).
In the third quarter, Calvin Harris Jr and Rasheed Sulaimon led Bourg's comeback. Harris tied the game with a three-pointer (58-58). The two teams kept trading baskets for the rest of the quarter, and the French side entered the fourth quarter with a one-point lead (71-70).
The Spanish side maintained a certain control over the second quarter, behind the performances of Lopez-Arostegui and Jaime Pradilla. They even reached a 12-point lead (43-31), but Bourg bounced back a little in the final part of the quarter and cut the lead to just 7 points (50-43).
Xabi Lopez-Arostegui was the top scorer for Valencia with 18 points (2/2 2PT, 4/6 3PT, 2/2 FT), 3 REB, 1 AST, 1 STE, 2 TOV, and 17 PIR.
While for JL Bourg, the top scorer was Rasheed Sulaimon with 25 points (7/10 2PT, 3/5 3PT, 2/3 FT), 1 REB, 2 AST, 1 STE, 1 TOV, and 19 PIR.
