French international Elie Okobo is headed to LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. After three years in the United States, which he spent between the NBA (Phoenix Suns) and the G-League (Northern Arizona Suns and Long Island Nets), the 23-year-old combo guard is returning home for the 2021-22 campaign.
Okobo gained experience during his three seasons spent with Elan Bearnais, where he had his career-best performance, scoring 44 points in a playoff game, in 2018. Selected with the 31st pick by Phoenix that same year, the left-handed scorer was able to add confidence and maturity to his game in order to expand his range.
"He is a player we have been following for many years, whose game has always appealed to us. Seeing him leave the United States and choose our club to make his return to France is a new strong sign that our project means a lot and speaks to French players who want to be involved in it," Tony Parker, President of LDLC ASVEL, commented on the signing.
